Falcons of Nigeria and the ignorant Sports Minister.
I chose not to blog the story making rounds until I hear a refutal by the Sports Minister. Kepu kepu is that the Nigerian Minister of Sports, Beret Solomon Dalung said that the African Women Cup of Nations winners, the Super Falcons of Nigeria said the team are still being owed because "they didn't expect them to win". No Sir, that statement didn't come from my 5 year old niece, Kamsi. It came from the Minister of Sports, Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Algerian Desert Foxes tamed by the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
First of all I want tender an unreserved apology to Gernot Rohr, the Super Eagles Supremo. I doubted his technical and tactical abilities. He has so far proved me wrong. He seem to have a good understanding of African football.

Rangers International of Enugu, worthy NPFL champions.
As a child, I heard many stories from my father, himself a football enthusiast. I learnt about players like Aloysius Atuegbu, Christian Chukwu, Emmanuel Okala and Dan Anyiam from him. The first ride I got to Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium was in his 1975 Mitsubishi Gallant to see a Rangers game. Exactly thirty years later, Rangers International of Enugu became Nigerian champions.

Samson Siasia, the last of the Mohicans.
Sunday Oliseh came, they messed him up, he left. Before him were Big Boss Stephen Okechukwu Keshi (of wonderful memory) and Austin Eguavoen. Emmanuel Amunike is currently trying out his hands with the junior teams while Ike Shoronmu remains a consistent figure in the national team set up. Jay Jay, Mutiu Adepoju, Uche Okechukwu, Rufai and George Finidi are either not interested in the national teams or don't want to come near the poisoned chalice that is national team assignment.
Samson Siasia, the laundry man of Nigerian football has thrown in the towel.

Nigeria Rio Olympics show of shame.
You see, in my country Nigeria, sports is grossly defiled. Look at the just concluded Rio Olympics where we sent athletes on a wild goose chase. Like sending a child to go kill an ox with bare hands, we asked athletes to go and compete for medals on empty stomach and the lowest level of motivation against well prepared athletes from more serious nations.

Our alleged N16,000,000 per month coach and the unending Nigerian Sports confusion.
You see, in Nigeria we never learn. It is a popular saying that experience is the best teacher. I believe though, that a wise man should learn from other people's mistakes. In Nigeria with regard to Sports, we have had personal experiences to teach every country on earth and even nations yet uncarved. Yet, we wallow is a shit hole of mistakes.

Olympics drama from the Nigerian sports House of Shame.
As a student, I was not sharp in mathematics. I solved the ones I could, and left the rest to the teachers generosity with marks in helping a student be successful in school. Point is I believed there were roles to be played; mine and the teachers'.
It is widely claimed in the Nigerian sport circles that Olympic bound athletes will fund themselves to Rio. Yes you heard correctly. After training hard, going through qualifiers and all, they are expected to fund themselves to the games.
Sports administration in Nigeria is like magic. The more you look the less you see.

Rest easy, Stephen Keshi. Thank you for a job well done.
I am still trying to wrap my head around the news of Stephen Keshi's death. He is reported to have died of cardiac arrest in the wee hours of this morning at the age of 54. I have very fond memories of the man who had become a legend of African football. A man so bubbly and full of life. Indeed, life is a pot of beans.

Van Gaal, José Mourinho and Ibracadabra; Tales from Old Trafford.
If Louis Van Gaal had been a manager in the days of Athens and Sparta, he would have been a god alongside Zeus, Athemis and Hercules. But in present day football where fresh blooded Pep, Simeone and Klopp are unjustly looking for older Managers to embarrass and send into compulsory retirement, LVG should have known that his rigid style will get him very far into the land of Nowhere.

Mountain of Fire, miracles and football.
Mountain of Fire and Miracles ministries is one of the few churches I haven't been to. The most common story we hear about the church is her military style of prayer. Scary if you ask me. It is said that a lazy and unfit person cannot pray in the church. I am neither lazy nor unfit, but I am not military. Me nor get the energy for dah kain prayer.

Pharaohs of Egypt halt Nigeria's AFCON comeback parade.
At the Borg El Arab stadium in Alexandria, the Pharaohs of Egypt ended Nigeria's hope of making an AFCON comeback. A lot of Nigerians can still replay the moments that led to that evil goal. From the Mohammed Sallah corner kick, to the scuffle in the box, and the eventual goal by Ramadan Sobhy, Nigerian hearts shattered into a million pieces.

Finally, Sunday Oliseh chickens out.
First major test of his managerial ability was the Vincent Enyeama saga. One he bungled so bad that even the cruelest sadist would have handled better. Then arose his allegations of 'witchcraft in the team'. I decided to ignore that one. Then the YouTube rant. No. Former Super Eagles Coach, Sunday Oliseh had been walking a tight rope.
