José Mourinho's second Chelsea missionary journey ends.

The picture above captures the beginning of José Mourinho and Chelsea woes.  On that fateful day, duty conscious Team physio and Doctor both ran into the field at the invitation of centre referee to attend to Eden Hazard's injury. José was infuriated and Caneiro was suspended. The rest is history.

Believe it or yes, Chelsea just made away with one of the best managers in the game. The club's abysmal performance in the EPL was the open reason. The back end reason may never be known. José Mourinho's sack, coming a second time in his career didn't come to many as a surprise. However, the entire episode begs the question; what went wrong? José won the EPL few months ago with the same team. Few months on, the team was in shambles. Fans watched from the stands and television sets as the Special One appeared clueless. José is widely known to fudge players into steel. Nemanja Matic being a typical example, has been a shadow of himself so far. This is same Matic that scared shitters out of opposing teams. He was like an archangel to John Terry and Gary Cahill. Eden Hazard dazzled like a million stars last season. This season, he runs around the field like a confused, fat kid. Diego Costa has been at his fighting best throwing away the needed football sense. Cesc Fabregas continues with his poor form from second half of last season. Oscar remains in his own shadows. Willian is the only Chelsea player that have impressd every football fan. Considering the fact that José won the league with same team, one continues to ask what went wrong.
José himself attracts controversies like no man's business. The Eva Caneiro issue wasn't necessary. It could have been handled better. Superstitious football ovservers are quick to point to the curse of Eva as what ignited Mourinho's woes. His constant jibe with Wenger never helped him too. Earlier, he called Wenger a specialist in failure. Wherever the French man is, he will be drinking fresh palm wine from Udi and laughing. Saying post Leicester match that his players betrayed him sounded like throwing in the towel. What next for him? Until Chelsea cash hits his bank, its not dine and dusted for the Portugese. The clause on compensation for him if fully pursued by Chelsea will drastically take from the widely touted £40 milion. Irrespective of the outcome, once the legal aspect is cleared, José should be in a top job.
In my opinion, Chelsea should not have sacked him. There is an issue in Chelsea dressing room. Unless he had been identified to be the problem, efforts should have been made to sort it out and aggrieved parties made to reach a peaceful compromise. Who replaces him is up to the club's hierarchy. No doubt, the EPL will miss José Mourinho, the self acclaimed Special One. He remains a top manager.

  1. Interesting piece. Sacking a manager of repute like him must not have been an easy decision so I want to believe the move came after due consideration of the pros and cons. The future of the club remains to be seen, make we dey observe.

    1. Lol...the movie was surreal while it lasted. The bitter/sweet truth is that José will be missed. Controversial yet interesting character.
