Glorious Chelsea!
By January 2017, it was obvious to every practising Thomas in football that Chelsea were EPL Champions in waiting. Michy Bashuayi's lone goal against Westbrom ensured the trophy was delivered at Stamford Bridge in due time and perfect condition.
The arrival of former Juve and Italian national team Manager Antonio Conte brought back the much needed confidence in Stamford Bridge. Chelsea who played last season under Josè Mourinho like a Lambourghini fitted with the tyre of a wheel barrow picked up. Technical adjustments were made and the rest is history.
Manchester United initially started like title contenders. After the first three games however, what became of their season eventually started. Tottenham became the only challenger. Pochettino tried to keep up pace but the glory that enveloped Chelsea kept Spurs many steps behind.
N'golo Kanté ran the show, Eden Hazard mesmerized defenders (Arsenal can testify), Victor Moses rediscovered himself and Marcos Alonso announced himself. From the bench, the man behind it all, Antonio Conte ouwitted every other Manager.
Chelsea had just a few bad games. Not enough to knock them off the perch though. Arsenal as usual, were title pretenders. Moving up and down like a dissatisfied phallus. United continued with their consistency with bad play week in and out. Liverpool showed up but were never going to even try and knock off Roman Abramovich's team from the summit of the table.
They are deserving champions. They left their hearts on the field whenever the need arose. They showed solid determination and at the end no one is surprised the trophy is headed for Stamford Bridge.
Congratulations Chelsea FC on winning the 2016/2017 EPL. None other deserved it.
