Sunday Oliseh returns!

The pass master was today shown to the world as the new Super Eagles Manager. Sunday Oliseh, former Borussia Dortmund and Juventus midfielder was as expected, installed as the new manager in a move anchored by the NFF Chairman, Amaju Pinnick.  When news of his hire surfaced initially, a lot of people expressed fears based on his managerial inexperience while the rest, me inclusive, rejoiced as it came as no surprise.

The combination of Pinnick and Oliseh is deemed to be formidable. One leading the nation's football house and the other leading the senior men's national team. Two men with clear vision and purpose which is why I expected Pinnick to go for Oliseh who is of a like mind. During the unveiling ceremony in Abuja, Oliseh said that only players plying their trade in the very top divisions will be in invited for national duty. Beautiful! Away with mediocrity.
It is expected that erstwhile 'stubborn and funny' players in the senior team will adjust. Oliseh is known to be a disciplinarian. Sanity is expected to return to the Eagles fold. Nigeria have never been short of quality players, our core issues have always been inviting the wrong people, gross indiscipline and NFF issues.
I believe Sunday Oliseh will grow the team, head it in a progressive direction and lay the foundation for success. It won't come like magic, but it will happen under his watch. As usual, I will gladly roast and eat my words if he doesn't perform like I predict.
