Andrea Pirlo, the last of his kind.

I see football as an art. That is why I rank Ronaldinho,  Zidane and Jay Jay Okocha alongside Michelangelo , Da Vinci and Van Gogh. Anyone who does an ordinary thing in an extra ordinary fashion outside of convention is an artist. By the last sentence, I defined Andrea Pirlo. He makes the list.

He lacks pace, not physically strong and so, rarely goes into tackles. I can count with first round of count on my fingers, the number of times i saw the ball touch his head. This is a guy who could have calmed  nerves if he was alive during the World War II. His composure is out of this world as he calms down every tension in a game. I have never seen Pirlo under pressure.

   "I don't feel pressure...i don't give a toss
about it. I spent the afternoon of Sunday
9th July 2006 in Berlin, sleeping and
playing the play station. In the evening
I went out and won the world Cup".- Pirlo.

This guy is a god! Pirlo can pick out a team mate with his trademark long range pass irrespective of the person's position inside an ant hole. His ability to read the game is something else. His curling free kicks draw premature orgasm! He has this uncanny ability to determine direction and tempo of play. Despite his lack of pace, he ran games from his deep lying position in central midfield. L'architet, Profeseur or Mozart, as he was called in different quarters, is a model of player the world may never see again.

With the latest announcement of his retirement from football, another artist have left the scene. The game will miss this artist.
Mighty blessings, Andrea Pirlo.

  1. I think the description was spot on, it took me time to really appreciate him,but I've not seen too many players that was as consistent as he was..we will surely miss him.
